Welsh engineering company transfers to Employee Ownership


JTS Ltd is the only environmental chamber manufacturer in Wales, and one of very few remaining in the UK. With owners Glen and Sue James looking to step back, solutions were sought to enable the business to continue and evolve.


The proposal to transfer the Company to an Employee Ownership Trust was met with unanimous approval. With the support of Employee Ownership Wales, the move will enable the continued employment of a skilled and committed team.


New Managing Director, David Hunter, is looking forward to implementing plans for further developing the business, including offering apprenticeships, for the benefit of all employees.


He said “This is a fantastic opportunity for the skilled and loyal staff to have an investment in their future, the future of the business and build on the outstanding success of the first 28 years at JTS. I look forward to working with the team here who have all fully embraced the EOT process and all of us taking the business to the next stage of development. Recruitment - Refrigeration Technician

We are expanding and looking for a Refrigeration Technician to join our talented team. If you have general workshop skills with knowledge of refrigeration and plumbing, this could be the role for you. Job description Overview To work as part of the workshop team to help ensure timely and high-quality production, factory maintenance, production Health & Safety and stock control. This may include service and installation work on site as well as workshop duties. Key Tasks - Production Building of refrigeration systems (training will be given) Pressure / Leak testing of complete systems (training will be given) Building mechanical systems in accordance with build schematics Assembly of prefabricated metalwork – including spot welding and tig welding General fitting in accordance to build instructions Assisting with erection of walk in rooms and site installations Fabrication of brackets etc for both refrigeration, electrical and humidity systems Scope This is seen as a key role within the company, and you will be an active contributor to the growth and successful future of the business. Talgarth Town Football Club

JTS were asked by local councillor William Powell to help out refreshing a storage container used by Talgarth Town FC juniors and ladies. After some initial discussions and a quick cad mock up to agree the paint scheme the JTS team began to work on the project. This happened with the help of the Black Mountains College (Power) and Talgarth Building Supplies (Paint) and the JTS workforce. As you can see the container has had a new lease of life and we hope the guys using the container like the paint work! ‘Good news TTFC under 10’s celebrated a home victory with the team having a photo and the container used as a back drop!’
